Arroyo lifts Nomads past Pachanga

NOMADS came away with a narrow 1-0 triumph over Pachanga Diliman Saturday night to climb to fourth spot in the United Football League at Emperador Stadium in Taguig.

Jason Arroyo’s first-half goal decided the  battle between two former second-division champions with Nomads raising their  total to seven points from four matches and moving past their victims in the table.

Pachanga remained fifth with six points and faces a tough task in its next match when it battles defending champion Global.

Robert Canedo, Osseynou Diop, Allen Serna and Yves Ashime all bungled chances for Pachanga, which missed the Guamanian duo of Jason Cunliffe and Ian Mariano due to national team duties.

Arroyo scored in the 23rd minute, after the Pachanga defense failed to clear its line.

The victory also made the return of Nomads keeper Jeff Blake even more memorable. A hand injury had sidelined the American for the last 11 months.
Meanwhile, Socceroo extended its unbeaten start in Division 2 to four matches after blanking Manila All-Japan, 5-0.
Korean striker Lee Jeong-woo scored two goals within the hour mark as Socceroo increased their tally to 12 points.
It was Manila All-Japan’s third loss in four matches.
