MANILA, Philippines—Riding on a five-game winning run, Petron Blaze head coach Olsen Racela knows his team has yet to face its toughest challenge yet.
And the Boosters’ next game which is against Alaska, a team on a hot streak of its own, would be it.
“Well, that’s going to be a good match up for us, a test for this team,” Racela said on facing the Aces next on Friday.
“We’ve accomplished something but we still haven’t done everything. That will be a gauge to see how far we’ve come as a team,” he added.
The Boosters’ anticipated clash with the Aces could also mark the return of their veteran playmaker Alex Cabagnot, who is recuperating from an ankle injury.
Meanwhile, swingman Chris Lutz, who injured his rib early in the conference, will miss three more games according to Racela.
Petron though, hardly seemed affected by the injuries to its key players as its sits in second place behind unbeaten Alaska, which is at 5-0, with a 5-1 slate.
“Every time players get injured it’s the time of other players to step up. We miss the scoring of our two injured guys and Alex’s leadership.”
