Cajeras, Membrere enter grand finals
MANILA—Jerich Cajeras of College of St. Benilde and Ateneo’s Brena Mae Membrere took the first two slots in the grand finals by topping the 19th Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship (SNYACC)-NCR kick-off leg at SM North Edsa recently.
Joining them are San Beda’s Sherwin Tiu and Adamson’s Karen Jean Enriquez (juniors).
In the Kiddies category, Melwyn Kenneth Baltazar (boys’ division) and Alexis Anne Osena of San Antonio Central School of Quezon bagged the top plums while Jerad Docena and Jellie Ann Magro were first runners-up in the boys’ and girls’ divisions, respectively. They will vie for the national crown in the grand finals slated Oct. 8 and 9 at SM Megamall.
Article continues after this advertisementOther finishers in the Kiddies category (Boys’ division) were Jhoemar Mendiogarin (2nd runner-up), Gino Divino Cabual (3rd runner-up) and Christian Luchina (4th runner-up); while girls division runners-up were Ynna Sophia Canape (2nd runner-up), Janell-Ann Basbas (3rd runner-up) and Shayxanthe Guico (4th runner-up).
Tuguegarao will host the SNYACC on July 23 and 24.
