MANILA, Philippines—San Mig Coffee dealt Alaska its first loss following a 75-68 win Wednesday night in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Mixers pulled ahead in the third quarter to lead by as much as 24, 60-36, on a basket by PJ Simon.
The Aces went on a late push and moved into single digits, 65-73, on two free throws by RJ Jazul with 1:47 left.
Denzel Bowles stopped Alaska’s run with a putback slam to make it a 10-point lead.
Bowles collected 16 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four blocks.
San Mig Coffee held Alaska’s big three of Cyrus Baguio, JVee Casio and Calvin Abueva to just single digits.
The Aces absorbed their first defeat in six games while the Mixers evened its win-loss record at 3-3.
