The long overdue election of the Philippine National Shooting Association will be held in two weeks.
Shooting chief Mikee Romero said the 15-man PNSA board is in the process of finalizing the master list of voters which will be submitted to the Philippine Olympic Committee for approval.
Once the roster of voters is approved, the twice-postponed exercise will be held in the presence of a POC observer to make the polls valid.
“We’re already cleaning up the list. It (polls) has been long-delayed. We have to hold the elections as soon as possible,” said Romero, who added that he’s not seeking reelection.
The Globalport team owner inherited the PNSA presidency 21 months ago after Art Macapagal stepped down halfway through his four-year term.
“There are a lot of personalities and debates happening inside but I’m making sure that everything is being taken care of and only deserving members get to cast their votes,” said Romero.
He added the board hasn’t tackled the controversy concerning longtime national team member Nathaniel “Tac” Padilla, who has been accused of padding the lineup of regular voting members with non-qualified individuals.
In a three-page complaint, 28 members of the association had requested PNSA elections committee chair Ronald Robles to cancel the polls last March 2 after charging that Padilla included his younger brother, Jeffrey Ong, in the list of voters.
