Unilab triathlon series starts Sunday

THE FIRST of a punishing four-leg triathlon series gets going this Sunday when the Unilab Active Health’s Tri United 1 rolls off on Dungaree Beach at Subic Bay Freeport.

Over 600 local racers are expected to compete in the event featuring the standard distance (1.5K swim-40K bike-10K run), the sprint distance (750m swim-20K bike-5K run) and the teens distance (750m swim-20K bike-5K run).

“We are proud to launch the 2013 Tri United season in Subic Bay which has long been the home venue of so many world-class triathlon events in our country,” said Unilab Active Health executive Lester Castillo, “Given the tremendous success of last year’s Tri United trilogy, we will continue to support Philippine triathlon and triathletes.”

Aside from the next three legs, the SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway) Unilab Active Health duathlon race is slated this year.

A large pool of age-group racers and triathlon clubs are also expected to see action in the event backed by Unilab Active Health, Aboitiz Power, Enervon Activ, Enervon HP, I-on Energy Drink, Hydrite, BikeKing, 3rd District of Bohol, Pocari Sweat, Timex, Crystal Clear Purified Water and Orbea.
