DANIEL Estanislao came up with an impressive win to complete the unisex 10-under semifinal cast while Chloe Mae Saraza did the same in the girls’ 14-under yesterday in the third Olivarez Cup Age Group tennis championships at Olivarez Sports Center in Sucat.
Estanislao, seeded sixth, stunned second pick Cesar Salimbangon, 6-1, 6-2, to barge into the semis against third seed Sebastian Santo, who overwhelmed Alfredo Doloroso, 6-0, 6-0.
Top seed Diego Dayrit eliminated Amanda Zoleta, 6-3, 6-1, to set up the other semis duel with No. 4 Miguel Vicencio, who dominated Sebastian Lhuillier, 6-0, 6-3, in the event presented by Palawan Pawnshop and held in honor of former Parañaque Mayor Pablo Olivarez.
The unranked Saraza drubbed Alexie Santos, 6-3, 6-4, to book a final four slot against second seed Coleen Sioson, who rallied to edge Bianca Cruz, 1-6, 6-3, 12-10.
Melanie Dizon walked over top seed Rafaella Villanueva to set up a semis encounter with Frances Santiago, who routed Bettina Bautista, 6-0, 6-2.
The Open division, pitting some of the national team mainstays, will begin today.
Meanwhile, Dream Team Cebuana Lhuillier, led by Totoy Alina and Beo-Yong Woo Park, crushed College Country Club (7-0) and Villamor Tennis Club (6-1) to lead the Invitational Interclub. Olivarez Sports Center, bannered by Josenico Peralta and George Bandola, scored its first win with a 6-1 rout of Sports Scholarship Program. Villamor defeated College CC, 5-2, in the other match.
