Arvie Bringas took charge in overtime as Big Chill stunned NLEX, 86-77, at the start of the Foundation Cup yesterday at Filoil Flying V Arena.
Bringas racked up 11 points in the extra period, including a three-point play with 27.7 seconds left that gave the Superchargers a 79-77 lead.
Alex Nuyles unloaded 22 points for the Superchargers, who closed the fourth quarter with an 8-0 windup to forge the extension, 73-73.
“I think we caught NLEX at the right time,” said coach Robert Sison. “They’re still on celebration mood after winning the Aspirants Cup.”
Cebuana Lhuiller and Fruitas also registered contrasting victories earlier.
Alvin Padilla and Jessie Bustos shone as the Gems pulled off a 68-66 decision of Boracay Rum.
