MANILA—Around 15,000 runners are expected to troop to the streets on Dec. 4 for the third staging of the Quezon City International Marathon (QCIM).
Considered as the city’s biggest sporting event, QCIM is now listed in the calendar of international marathon events by the prestigious Runner’s World magazine.
Local and international participants will experience running through challenging and picturesque routes that include Commonwealth Avenue, the widest highway in the Philippines, University of the Philippines campus greenery and the scenic La Mesa Dam and Eco Park.
Organized by the Quezon City local government, the QCIM is managed by the Executive Runners of the Philippines (Runnex), one of the country’s oldest and most organized running clubs.
“We are elated with the sustained confidence of the QC government in our capability to manage this race,” lawyer Rodolfo Fernandez, Runnex chair, said. “We are confident we can increase yearly the number of participants and improve our level of performance.”
