PSC hoping to tap Fil-foreign bets
Chair Richie Garcia of the Philippine Sports Commission is leaving this Sunday for Madrid, Spain, to start a four-country swing in Europe and South America to discover foreign athletes with Filipino lineage and tap foreign coaches for the national team.
“We might find talents in Madrid that we can invite to play for the national team,” said Garcia. “We’ll also focus on looking for training camps.”
PSC executive director Guillermo Iroy, who will join Garcia in the 18-day trip, said they’ve already arranged a meeting with the Filipino community in Madrid in a bid to find football and lawn tennis talents.
From Madrid, the PSC chief will travel to Brasilia and sign a bilateral agreement with top Brazilian sports officials.
