LONDON, Ontario— Canada’s Patrick Chan has won his third straight men’s title at the World Figure Skating Championships, holding off little-known Denis Ten of Kazakhstan.
Ten stole Chan’s spotlight with a beautifully breezy and technically impressive performance to “The Artist” to win the free skate Friday, but he couldn’t overcome Chan’s lead from the short program.
Chan finished with 267.78 points, 1.3 better than Ten. The Kazakh skater had never been better than seventh at the world championships or Olympics before.
Javier Fernandez of Spain was third.
