MANILA—After picking up two big wins, a more confident Adamson squad goes for a share of second place against winless University of the East in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament Thursday.

Buoyed by the solid games of the Adamson veterans, the Falcons are heavily favored in their bid for a third straight victory against the Warriors at 1 p.m. at the Philsports Arena.

“The team needs to be consistent,” said Adamson coach Leo Austria. “Before, there were doubts because we’re on and off. This time we’re trying to check that.”

League officials said the double-header will push through until further notice.

Wednesday, the league cancelled the women’s matches at the Blue Eagle Gym due to inclement weather. The four-game bill has been reset to Aug. 3 in the same venue.

The Falcons, who boast a veteran cast led by Alex Nuyles and Eric Camson, dealt University of Santo Tomas’ first loss (81-71) last Sunday, a week after their surprise rout of last year’s finalist Far Eastern University (78-59).

The Falcons are bidding to tie the idle Tams at 3-1 behind the 4-0 card of three-time champion Ateneo.

La Salle also tries to work on its consistency after forging its first triumph, 79-67, over University of the Philippines last Saturday.
