Patrimonio faces Capadocia

Defending champion Clarice Patrimonio used her firm groundstrokes and booming serves to turn back Edilyn Balanga, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, while Marian Jade Capadocia downed top seed Marinel Rudas, 6-4, 6-3, late Friday in the semifinals of the third Olivarez Cup Open Tennis Championship at Olivarez Sports Center in Parañaque.

The daughter of basketball superstar Alvin Patrimonio and sister of fellow PH netter Christine battles back-to-back PCA Open champ Capadocia for the title in the event  presented by Palawan Pawnshop.

In men’s action, top seed Johnny Arcilla crushed Kim Saraza, 6-2, 6-1, while defending champion Elbert Anasta demolished Ronard Joven, 6-2, 6-0 to make the semifinals.

Arcilla will face Rolando Ruel Jr., who struggled to get past Leander Lazaro, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, while Anasta will take on Patrick John Tierro who routed Mark Anthony Alcoseba, 6-2, 6-2.
