THEY could be the next big thing in Philippine swimming. And the achievements earned them recognition at the PSA-Milo Annual Awards Night last Saturday at Manila Hotel.
Swimming sensations Axel Toni Ngui and Kirsten Chloe Daos received the Milo Junior Athletes of the Year awards, after a string of impressive performances last year.
A college freshman at Ateneo, Ngui came through with a sterling year highlighted by victories in the 2012 Palarong Pambansa and the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 75, where he was named Rookie of the Year.
Daos, 13, was equally impressive at the Palaro, emerging as one of the first triple-gold medalists. She looks to continue her progress in the 37th Southeast Asian Age-Group Swimming Championships in June.
“We are privileged to be able to honor Axel and Kirsten, who are both a shining example of the sportsmanship and values our young athletes should possess,” said Milo Sports executive Andrew Neri.
