With the Elasto Painters able to control the tempo of the game, head coach Yeng Guiao knew his team would be hard to beat.
“We were able to make it a high scoring ball game,” Guiao pointed out following his squad’s 103-93 win over Barako Bull. “And we want an uptempo, we want a speed game, transition open court and that also worked out for us.”
Seven-foot-two import Bruno Sundov led ROS’ scoring surge with 27 points on top of 11 rebounds while Paul Lee led all locals with 20 points on three-of-four triples.
Rain or Shine averaged just 77 points per game in its last two games with both resulting to losses against Petron and Talk ‘N Text.
Also, Rain or Shine found its touch from the perimeter, something Guiao was concerned about coming in.
“I’m happy because I’ve seen some improvement.”
But the moment the shots swished for ROS, which nailed 10 threes including a couple of timely baskets that held off Barako Bull’s run late, Guiao’s worries were wiped away.
“It was a fast-paced game and that’s the way we like it.”
