SEA Games no longer a big deal

Participation in the Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar this December is no longer a big deal for the country.

With only seven months left before the biennial meet set Dec. 11-22, the country has yet to form the SEA Games Task Force which decides the composition of the Philippine contingent that will compete against the  top bets from 10 nations in the region.

Philippine chef de mission Jeff Tamayo Wednesday admitted that sports officials aren’t as interested as the previous editions of the games after Myanmar organizers removed several sports and included 60 events that favored them.

“Maybe it’s because of the small number of delegates, or because the organizers are doing everything to put us down,” said Tamayo, the country’s soft tennis chief.
