Coke launches summer hoop league

THE SEARCH for rising basketball stars gets going when the Coca-Cola PBA Youngstars Basketball League unfolds this summer.

Open to players aged 13 to 16 years old, the league will hold nationwide tryouts this April for the Metro Manila and provincial teams that will fight for slots in the national finals set from May 19 to 26.

“This shows that we in the PBA, along with Coca-Cola, will be unwavering in our responsibility to the youth,” PBA commissioner Chito Salud said yesterday.

Metro Manila tryouts are slated from April 1 to 13 while provincial tryouts are from April 2 to 14.

“We’re promoting healthy, active living by having a balanced diet, proper hydration and adequate physical activity,” Angie Miles, Coca-Cola’s scientific and regulatory affairs director, added at Casa Armas in Greenbelt.
