BLACKWATER Sports climbed out of an 18-point hole to grab solo second spot while four-time champion NLEX picked up its first triumph after an unexpected
0-2 start in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup yesterday at Filoil Flying V Arena.
Allan Mangahas buried a game-high 21 points as the Elite rallied past Cebuana Lhuillier, 87-80, to improve to 3-1, behind unbeaten leader Fruitas (3-0).
The Road Warriors, meanwhile, got going with a 10-0 start and never looked back for a 90-54 rout of newcomer Hog’s Breath Cafe.
Garvo Lanete drilled 18 points to power the Road Warriors, who are reeling from the departure of Greg Slaughter and Ian Sangalang.
The Elite banked on a huge second half where they came back from as many as 18 points down, 17-35, behind Mangahas, Kevin Ferrer and Pari Llagas.
“In the second half, our zone defense started working,” said Blackwater coach Leo Isaac.
