Ex-PBA best import Bobby Parks Sr. dies

MANILA, Philippines — Seven-time PBA best import Bobby Parks Sr. died Saturday afternoon, according to San Miguel Corp. Sports Director Noli Eala.

Parks, 51, who has been battling throat cancer, died at the San Juan de Dios Hospital, Eala said.

He was supposed to take the head coaching duties of San Miguel Beermen in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) for the second straight season but had to take a leave of absence for medical reasons.

Parks, whose son Ray is a two-time UAAP MVP for the National University Bulldogs, steered the Beermen to a finals appearance last season.
