PH Cuppers confident
A VERY competent and flexible Cebuana Lhuillier-Philippine team will face Thailand in the Davis Cup Asia Oceania Group 2 semifinal tie on April 5 to 7 at Plantation Bay Spa and Resort in Lapu-Lapu City.
That’s the assessment of Philippine Tennis Association vice president Randy Villanueva of the squad composed of United States-based Treat Huey, Ruben Gonzales and Francis Casey Alcantara, and Johnny Arcilla. The team is set to arrive today in Cebu along with captain Roland Kraut.
“We have a team where each one can play singles and doubles competently,” said a confident Villanueva.
The visitors will miss key players from their regular lineup and will lean on main man Danai Udomchoke, who is a strong singles player and highest ranked in the tie at 210th. The Thais won’t have the services of veteran Kittiphon Wachiramanowong and the crack doubles team of twins Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana.
