LAPU LAPU CITY—For the Thailand Davis Cup team, Danai is the “Da Man.”

The 31-year-old Danai Udomchoke will be playing as the highest ranked singles player  at 207th when Thailand tangles with host Philippines in  their Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group 2 semifinal tie beginning tomorrow at Plantation Bay Spa and Resort here.

“He (Udomchoke) is a very tough player, and he is ranked higher than anybody in our lineup,” said Philippine Tennis Association vice president Randy Villanueva.

But he added that even if Udomchoke wins both his singles matches in the tie, anybody from among Ruben Gonzales, Treat Huey, Johnny Arcilla and Francis Casey Alcantara stands a good chance of beating the Thai’s No. 2 player Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul.

The drawing of lots to decide who will play in the opening singles will be held today.
