Cagayan Valley leaned on another sterling performance from Eliud Poligrates as it dealt Fruitas its first defeat of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup with an 80-74 dumping yesterday at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Brilliant on both ends of the floor, Poligrates sizzled with a career-high 29 points as the Rising Suns collected their third straight victory, while snapping the Shakers’ three-game winning run.
The wily guard from Cebu struck hardest in the final period with back-to-back baskets in the final period that kept the rallying Shakers at bay.
Later, Mike Parala fired 21 points as Café France overwhelmed EA Regen, 107-92, to gain a share of the lead with Blackwater Sports with a 4-1 record. Defending champion NLEX nailed its second straight win after crushing Boracay Rum, 106-84.
Jake Pascual came away with a third straight double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds to lift the Road Warriors to a 2-2 record.
