MANILA, Philippines — Import Eric Dawson erupted for a season-high 57 points to lead Meralco over Petron Blaze, 102-92, Friday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The last player to score 57 points was Derrick Brown of the defunct Sta. Lucia Realtors back in 2004.

“Fantastic game. I was also amazed. I haven’t seen this for a long long time,” marvelled Meralco head coach Ryan Gregorio.

“I left it all in the court tonight,” said Dawson, who also had 14 rebounds, four steals and three blocks.

The six-foot-10 Dawson shot 20-of-34 from the field and 17-of-22 at the line.

With the win, the Bolts tied the Boosters and Barangay Ginebra in third place with identical 6-5 records.
