MANILA, Philippines – Alaska rose from 22 points down to stun Rain or Shine, 89-84, in overtime and grab the top spot Friday night in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Veteran swingman Dondon Hontiveros scored 22 points, 18 in the final 17 minutes, on seven-of-10 shooting from long range.
“We’re just trying to keep the game close,” said Alaska head coach Luigi Trillo. “Somehow we found the way back. Dondon got hot… I thought this game was lost.”
The Elasto Painters led 54-32 at one point in the third quarter. The Aces shot just 20.9% from the field in the first half.
