LAPU-LAPU CITY—Treat Huey took care of the sideline, while Francis Casey Alcantara zipped along the net for easy kills.

They pretty much executed that winning play as the Cebuana Lhuillier-Philippines scored a 6-3, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) win over Thailand’s Nuttanon Kadchapanan and Pruchya Isarow to post a 2-1 advantage in their Davis Cup tie last night at Plantation Bay Spa and Resort here.

The 27-year-old Huey, world No. 27 in doubles, played according to his lofty billing as he took control of the match and allowed Alcantara to make daring shot placements at the expense of the flustered teenaged tandem from Thailand.

The Philippines can wrap up the tie by winning just one of the two reverse singles today featuring Ruben Gonzales against former Asian Games singles champion Danai Udomchoke, and Johnny Arcilla against gangly 17-year-old novice Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul. Matches start at 3:30 p.m.
