MANILA, Philippines—Even with things going his way inside and outside the ring, Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire assured that he’s focused as ever — especially for Sunday.

Donaire, hailed Fighter of the Year for 2012 by esteemed media entities, is set to slug it out with Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux for their world unification bout at the iconic Radio City Music.

“At this time of my career is when people are usually vulnerable,” said Donaire at the final press conference on Thursday in New York, livestreamed through the Top Rank website.

“You get ‘Fight of the Year,’ you get a baby coming…but I guarantee you coming into the fight you’ll see the best Nonito Donaire,” he added.

“There’s really not much to say that I haven’t already said. This is going to be an incredible fight. We don’t doubt Rigondeaux’s skills. He’s a very skillful fighter and that’s why we trained the best of our ability,” Donaire said of his opponent.

Rigondeaux, a former two time Olympic gold medalist, meanwhile, is confident that he could stop Donaire.

“Come Saturday I’m ready, I’m trained, I’m prepared. It’s just a few hours away. I’ll become a world champion once again and unify the titles,” he said.
