CAFÉ France didn’t give Hog’s Breath much of a chance of an upset, but newcomer EA Regens Med took down another favored squad in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup yesterday at Filoil Flying V Arena.
Propped up by Moncrief Rogado, the Bakers broke the game wide open in the second quarter with a 24-6 outburst versus the Razorbacks for a 75-58 victory that pushed them closer to the top spot with a 5-2 record.
Coach Egay Macaraya lauded the Bakers’ “strong start” behind Rogado, who drilled 11 of his 17 points in the first half, Mike Silungan (15 points) and Marion Magat (14 points).
Ian Sangalang scored on a key putback with less than a minute left as the Regens tripped Cebuana Lhuillier, 73-69, to improve to a share of sixth spot with a 3-2 card.
The Regens also stunned last conference’s finalist Cagayan Valley, 103-92, four days ago.
Later, Jason Escueta lifted Jumbo Plastic past winless Informatics, 80-75, to rise to 2-5.
Jimbo Aquino had 19 points and nine boards to lead the Regens, while Raymond Almazan tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds on top of three blocks.
The 6-foot-6 Sangalang-finished with 11 markers, nine rebounds and two blocks.
