Eagles stay clean; Lions maul UP 5

KIEFER Ravena and Juami Tiongson starred  in the Ateneo backcourt as the Blue Eagles drubbed Emilio Aguinaldo College, 80-67,  yesterday to stay unbeaten in three games in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup.

Ravena finished with 18 points, six rebounds and five assists and Tiongson fueled the Blue Eagles’ fourth-quarter breakaway to wind up with 15 points.

San Beda also cruised past University of the Philippines, 70-58, with Rome dela Rosa shooting near-perfect from the field in the second of a three-game bill at Filoil Flying V Arena.

Dela Rosa, who missed only once in seven attempts, wound up with 18 points and Ola Adeogun added 12  and seven boards in powering the Lions to their second win in three outings.

Earlier, Levi Hernandez paced a balanced charge as Arellano opened its bid with a 74-65 triumph over Perpetual Help.

Hernandez finished with 13 points after fueling a strong start where the Chiefs built a 17-point advantage, 43-26, by halftime.

“With our set of players, we can now play an uptempo game,” said Arellano coach Koy Banal.

Fil-Canadian James Forrester, who helped quell the Altas’ rallies, added 12 points, five rebounds and a couple of blocks.

Guard Von Pessumal also had 16 points for the Blue Eagles.
