MANILA, Philippines — La Salle demolished Cebu-based Southwestern University, 98-61, to stay undefeated Saturday in the 2013 Filoil Flying V Pre-Season Cup at the Arena in San Juan.
It got ugly quick when Almond Vosotros heated up early as he nailed three triples to give the Green Archers a 28-10 lead by the end of the first quarter.
La Salle did not pull any punches as it continued to demolish the Cesafi champions and posted a whopping 37-point lead twice in the fourth quarter.
“The boys played well both ends. I liked the way we move the basketball and the way we shared it,” said head coach Gee Abanilla.
“I noted that we had 16 assists in the first half I’m really happy about that,” added Abanilla as the Green Archers finished with 23 assists.
Vosotros finished with a game-best 17 points while Norbet Torres added 16. Jason Perkins and Gab Reyes had 12 and 10, respectively.
Scoring 22 points on the break and 18 off turnovers, La Salle still made SWU pay even with the Cobras cutting their miscues into half with just 14.
Only guard Monbert Arong had double digits with 13, as Cameroonians Fabrice Siewe and Justin Aboude only had seven markers each.
