Arellano beats UP in FilOil
MANILA, Philippines — Arellano University turned back University of the Philippines, 74-66, Monday in the 2013 FilOil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at the Arena in San Juan.
The Chiefs leaned on athletic swingman James Forrester to chalk up their second win in as many stints.
“Undisciplined kami on offense and defense. We played individually that’s why dumikit sila,” said Arellano head coach Koy Banal.

“Personally, I think we need to do a better job of closing out games, we’ve had large leads and see it fade away in the fourth quarter,” said the six-foot-two Forrester. “All that is from out execution and I think once we do a better job on that I think we’ll be a tough team to beat.”
Joseph Marata, a transferee from De La Salle, scored a game-high 19 points, 15 of which came from long distance, and grabbed seven boards for the Fighting Maroons, who dropped to 0-2 after their comeback against defending NCAA champion San Beda fell short last Friday.
