VANDERBIJLPARK, South Africa— Oscar Pistorius’ older brother Carl is back in court in South Africa for his culpable homicide trial, where he is charged with driving negligently and causing the death of a woman motorcyclist in a collision in 2008.

Carl Pistorius, wearing a blue suit and white open-necked shirt, sat in the dock with his head down, looking at his cellphone and also a table device as a policeman testified at Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Prosecutors say Pistorius caused the death of 36-year-old Maria Barnard when his Ford Ranger SUV collided with her motorbike in March 2008, throwing her off the bike. Barnard died six days later in the hospital.

Pistorius has pleaded not guilty to culpable homicide and two other charges relating to driving recklessly and without consideration.
