NU, Arellano down Filoil foes, fan win streak
NATIONAL University and Arellano streaked to their third straight victories yesterday even as Far Eastern University overcame a gritty Perpetual Help squad in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup.
The Bulldogs, drawing a double-double output from Bobby Ray Parks, repulsed the Jose Rizal U Bombers, 71-60, after the Chiefs subdued the St. Benilde Blazers, 73-60, at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Tamaraws leaned on the strong play of Terrence Romeo in the final quarter to hold off the Altas, 88-81, for their first victory in the preseason tournament.

Arellano held St. Benilde to just 28 percent shooting, enabling the Chiefs to register their best start in the tournament.
Pinto led Arellano with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Prince Capral added 10 points and 11 boards.
“We haven’t won three in a row in any league and we haven’t beaten CSB since I took over as head coach so those were our motivations,” said Arellano coach Koy Banal.
Mike Tolomia also chipped in 13 points, five boards and five assists while Mark Belo and RR Garcia combined for 26 points 14 rebounds for the Tamaraws (1-1).
FEU coach Nash Racela still rued the fact that his Tamaraws gave up 81 points to the Altas.
