UNBEATEN Ateneo and National University clash today in what could be a preview of the finals of the Shakey’s V-League Season 10 First Conference at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The match is set at 4 p.m. with the Lady Eagles, who are gunning for a third straight crown this year, seeking a sixth consecutive victory. A win by the Lady Bulldogs, unscathed in four games, will complete the semifinal cast in Group I.
“It’s not the finals but we’re very prepared for NU,” said Ateneo coach Roger Gorayeb, whose squad has all but assured its entry to the last four after beating Arellano in straight sets last Thursday.
Adamson also hopes to formalize its entry to the semifinals when it battles University of Santo Tomas at 2 p.m.
With a 2-0 slate in Group II, the Lady Falcons are hoping to avoid complications in barging to the Final Four.
A win by the Tigresses will complete the semifinal cast in Group II.
The spotlight though will be on the NU-Ateneo clash which will feature the league’s best attacking teams.
Alyssa Valdez, Rachel Daquis and Fille Cainglet have been relentless for the Lady Eagles, who breezed past the Lady Chiefs, 25-18, 25-17, 25-23 at the start of the quarterfinals.
The Lady Bulldogs are formidable with the power-hitting Santiago sisters Dindin and Jaja, and Myla Pablo and Aiko Urdas at the helm.
“We just need to sort out our service receptions and lessen our unforced errors to stand a chance against Ateneo,” said NU coach Edjet Mabbayad.
