MANILA—Three combat sports which are consistent winners for the country on the international stage has found a new benefactor.
Adidas Budomart International, which specializes in combat sports equipment and apparel, will sponsor the country’s teams in boxing, taekwondo and judo, said Eric Siu, president-CEO of Adidas International.
Siu told a press conference at SM Mall of Asia Sunday night that details of the company’s support to the three national squads are being finalized.
“The top teams in the world use Adidas Budomart,” he said.
Boxing, taekwondo and judo are expected to produce a decent harvest of golds for the country in the Southeast Asian Games this November.
With Siu at the conference were SM Prime Holdings president Hans Sy, former karatedo president Pocholo Veguillas, Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines executive director Ed Picson, Adidas vice president Kei Yung Wong and Adidas Budomart’s Richard Lim.
