Hot Miranda makes it 2 in a row in Coke karting

DANIEL Miranda survived the challenge of Gabe Tayao-Cabrera to seize his second straight win in the second leg of the 2013 Coca-Cola Karting Super Series at the Batangas Racing Circuit recently.

Even without top guns Milo and Estefano Rivera, the race proved to be tough for the 15-year-old Miranda as he struggled before pulling off sweeps in the Qualifying, Pre-Final and Final races. He captured both the ROK Senior and ROK Overall crowns.

In the Qualifying heat, Cabrera stuck close throughout the race but Miranda managed to escape by 0.625 of a second.

The Pre-Final saw a more aggressive Cabrera as he battled Miranda for the lead three times. Miranda wrested the lead for good at the last turn en route to victory by just 0.162 of a second.

Miranda nearly lost to Cabrera in the 10-lap Final race but relied on his experience to complete the sweep by 0.205 of a second.

Aside from the ROK overall runner-up plum, Cabrera also took the ROK Junior and ROK Clubman titles. He also clinched a second consecutive Formula SL Novice crown.
