PBA semis now a question of who’s healthiest

MARK Caguioa’s return to the Barangay Ginebra lineup won’t happen until Friday at the earliest, and the reigning PBA MVP won’t be the only superstar missing in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Talk ‘N Text spitfire Jimmy Alapag set to sit out Game 3 as well.

Caguioa, who has missed the playoffs for the Gin Kings so far, could be reactivated in Friday’s Game 4 even after seeing brief action in the All-Star Game on Sunday in Davao del Sur.

The Gin Kings and the Tropang Texters break their 1-1 tie at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Alapag, on the other hand, is sure to miss the crucial third game because of a strained right calf suffered during the final minutes of practice for the Gilas-Pilipinas squad last Friday in Davao.

“The team with the least injury problems has the biggest chance of ending up on top,” Talk ‘N Text coach Norman Black said. “And at this point, it is Alaska, which has been healthy and has very young guys.”

San Mig Coffee, the defending champion and Alaska’s Final Four foe, also has an injured superstar in former two-time MVP James Yap. The Mixers and the Aces will also break their 1-1 stalemate at 5:15 p.m. tomorrow.
