Superchargers thwart Regens

MAC Montilla and Terrence Romeo helped Big Chill regain control in the closing minutes as the Superchargers outlasted EA Regens, 77-73, to keep its quarterfinal bid alive in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup yesterday at Ynares Sports Arena.

Montilla and Romeo combined for half of the Superchargers’ 24 points in the final period, putting them back on top, 72-65, after the Regens grabbed the lead for the first time, 61-59.

“The guys were so focused to win,” said Big Chill coach Robert Sison after his team wrapped up its elimination campaign with a 6-5 record.

Earlier, Cagayan Valley also survived a late rally by Café France, 73-67, to claim solo fourth at 6-4.

Mark Cruz sank two baskets in the final two minutes that gave the Rising Suns breathing room after the Bakers trimmed their 46-25 lead to 68-67. With a report from Nico Pascual
