Refusing to back down despite a recent defeat, the Philippine Volcanoes brace themselves for rugby’s biggest stage, the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow next month.
And Michael Letts vowed to take Philippine rugby to higher level.
“This is something we carry with honor and pride, to represent the Philippines and promote the sport,” Letts said.
Supporting the team is sports apparel brand Fila, which committed itself to backing the PH team in its maiden stint in the Worlds.
Fila Philippines chief executive officer Cris Albert yesterday confirmed their partnership with the Volcanoes in a press conference.
This year’s World Cup is the last edition as rugby will be included in the Olympics starting in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.
The Volcanoes are smarting from a 59-20 defeat at the hands of Hong Kong over the weekend in the Asian Five Nations tournament held at Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
