Play in China, Sharks invite Gilas-PH

Ecstatic over Manila’s hospitality during their visit here this week, the Shanghai Sharks want to return the favor by inviting Gilas-Pilipinas national team to play a series of friendly matches in China.

Philippine Sports Commission chair Richie Garcia yesterday said he would relay the message of the Chinese ballclub, headed by team owner Yao Ming, to Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas officials.

“It was mentioned to us by the coaches and Chinese embassy officials, including Yao himself,” said Garcia. “They are inviting our basketball team to Shanghai.” June Navarro
