Manalo stuns favored rivals
MARC Manalo of RSL Motorsports stole the limelight from the favorites when he notched his first triumph in the premier M&H Pro class over young sensation Arvin Jay Millet of TEMZ recently in the third and penultimate leg of the 2013 Petronas Philippine Drag Racing Championship Southern Series at Batangas Racing Circuit.
It was a fitting revenge for Manalo who lost the M&H Pro class title to Millet in the second leg of the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and sponsored by Petronas, Yokohama, GT Radials, M&H Tires.
The victory also catapulted Manalo, who has a runner-up and two third places in previous legs, as a strong title contender for the national crown along with Millet and reigning titlist Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing.
The feat opened big chances for Manalo to follow the footsteps of older brother Martin, winner of the 2011 Drag Racing Driver of the Year plum.
