Coseteng eyes GT repeat; Tuason returns to racing
JODY Coseteng seeks a second straight win as the country’s finest circuit drivers gear up for the second leg of the 2013 Yokohama Philippine Grand Touring Car Championships at Batangas Racing Circuit.
Coseteng of Eagle Cement Racing is eyeing repeat wins in both the Sprint and Final race in the GT 300 class to pad his lead in the Driver of the Year race.
Spicing up the event are races in the Philminiracers Classic Mini Racing and the VW KaFER Cup Pilipinas event.
Coseteng ruled the kickoff leg despite the challenge of Korean Peter Kim of S-Oil Racing and in the absence of defending champion Vincent Floirendo and veteran Jojo Silverio.
Article continues after this advertisementKim finished just 0.183 of a second behind Coseteng in the Sprint race. In the Final race, Kim took the early lead but Coseteng came back to seize the pace and win the race.
Apart from Arnel Carlos and Milo Rivera who will be disputing the GT200 title, the other strong contenders are the returning JP Tuason and Dwight Kevin Carlos, who are both also racing in the GT300 class. Steve Silva, Contributor
