Beermen sweep Warriors for ABL title

MANILA, Philippines — There were no game-winners needed, nor any late-game heroics.

After scrambling in its first two games at home, San Miguel dominated in Game 3 to close out Indonesia, 70-55, and capture the 2013 Asean Basketball League (ABL) title via sweep at the Mahaka Square in Jakarta.

The Beermen, who won Game 2 on a game-winning basket by Brian Williams last Sunday, drew 19 points from league MVP Asi Taulava.

Taulava was also the catalyst in the Finals opener where the veteran big man delivered down the stretch to lead San Miguel, which got back at Indonesia after losing to the Warriors in last year’s championship duel, to a 75-70 win.

Guard Mario Wuysang paced the Warriors with 21 points.
