San Beda tossers post twin Petron victories
SAN BEDA’S Janine Marciano and Frances Molina notched a pair of victories at the start of the third leg of the 2013 Petron Ladies’ Beach Volleyball tournament yesterday at UE-Caloocan.
Marciano and Molina had an easy time finishing off University of the East’s Leuseth Dawis and Chelo Ramos, 21-9, but was challenged hard by Trinity’s Carissa Martinez and Mary Paz Soteco before eventually winning, 21-19.
A flurry of aces from 18-year-old Molina gave San Beda a 5-2 spread, which they padded to as much as 13-5, in their clash against Dawis and Ramos.
Article continues after this advertisementMolina also scored the last two points—a spike to the left and an ace—to put away Martinez and Soteco and pace Group B.
In other matches, La Salle-Dasmariñas’ Iari Yongco and Mariel Desengano whipped AMA Computer University’s Sheila Fajardo and Jasmine Dario, 21-15, in Group A.
Fajardo and Dario later bounced back with 23-21 nipping of Letran’s Jan Carreon and Queenie Mondejar.
