FIBA Asia: Yi returns as China routs Bahrain, puts Kazakhs in quarters
MANILA, Philippines — Yi Jianlian returned as Asian champion China handily beat Bahrain, 88-66, in Group F in the second round of the 27th FIBA Asia men’s Championship Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Yi, in his first game back after missing four games due to a hamstring injury, made his presence felt with 12 points and six rebounds in less than 13 minutes of play — all in the first half.
China’s win gave the last quarterfinals ticket in Group F to Kazakhstan as Bahrain got the boot.
