Adamson, La Salle triumph in UAAP women’s hoops final four
MANILA, Philippines – Adamson refused to end its UAAP season 76 women’s basketball campaign on Sunday and stunned topseeded National University, 76-71, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Lady Falcons drew 21 points from Jinky Balasta, 16 from Analie Tongco, nine points and 12 assists from Joy Cochico as they forged a rubber match for the finals against the Lady Bulldogs, who had a twice-to-beat edge.
Adamson and NU clash anew on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, La Salle pounced on University of Santo Tomas’ meltdown in regulation and zoomed to the finals with an 81-74 victory.
Trisha Piatos poured 28 points for the Lady Archers, who recovered from a five-point deficit in the winding seconds of the fourth and forged overtime.
La Salle faces the victor of the Adamson-NU tiff in a best-of-three finals.
