THIS could turn out to be the longest season for the country’s oldest collegiate basketball league.

The NCAA yesterday canceled its games anew due to expected heavy traffic in Metro Manila as a result of the Iglesia Ni Kristo Medical Mission.

Dax Castellano, chair of the league’s management committee, made the announcement early yesterday, postponing the game pitting Emilio Aguinaldo College and Mapua as well as the San Beda-Arellano clash at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

“The NCAA, as suggested by Mancom members, has decided to postpone the games today,” said Castellano. “We understand the difficulties that our students may encounter going to the venue.”

The postponement marked the third time this season that games were rescheduled with the previous two caused by heavy rains.

Another game pitting Lyceum and St. Benilde last Thursday was also stopped in the third quarter due to leaks in the roof of the game venue.

With the development, the 10-team league is projected to finish in the middle of November, more than a month after its rival collegiate league, the UAAP, wrapped up its basketball season.
