Guiao summoned by PBA for name-calling incident
MANILA, Philippines — Rain or Shine’s fiery head coach Yeng Guiao has been summoned by the PBA Commissioner’s Office for a name-calling incident Wednesday night.
Shortly after the Elastopainters’ 102-93 series tying win, a fuming Guiao was heard calling Bolts’ Fil-American forward Cliff Hodge a “mongoloid” as the squads were on their way to the dugout at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The summon is set for Friday at 1 p.m.
“I want to hear his side on the altercation that happened after the game where it appeared that he waited for Cliff Hodge,” Salud said.

“And Cliff Hodge, he’s a person who’s been hurting a lot of players his style, he’s just out there to hurt people. I think the situation with Paul (Lee) was also with Cliff Hodge. The last play was a fist in the face of Almazan. The refs just missed a lot of calls. It’s really getting out of control,” Guiao said of the incident.
While he helped pacify, Salud said he doesn’t really know what happened as he “wasn’t there at the height of altercation.”
Hodge, meanwhile, will also meet with Salud for his action towards Almazan.
“It was called, but it could be reviewed as a flagrant foul that’s why Hodge is also being summoned for a possible upgrade to a flagrant foul,” Salud said.
Last February, Guiao was slapped with a hefty P100,000 fine by the league for persistent misconduct.
