CEU, La Salle cagebelles continue rise
MANILA, Philippines — Centro Escolar University rebounded from a shock defeat last week with a 65-56 win over College of St. Benilde even as UAAP champion La Salle continued its resurgence recently in the 3rd Pilipinas Chinese Amateur Basketball League (PCABL) Dickies Women’s Cup at CEU Lumera Tower gym in Legarda, Manila.
Janine Pontejos and Micah Joy Figuracion led CEU’s torrid first-half assault with seven points each to give the Lady Scorpions a comfortable 33-19 halftime lead.
The Lady Scorpions padded their lead to 18 points, 50-32, on the way to posting their seventh win in eight starts that bolstered their bid to clinch the first final slot in the tournament.
Pontejos went on to finish with 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
La Salle, on the other hand, closed in on second running UST after crushing newcomer Fatima, 87-26, for a 5-3 record.
