De Ocampo is Best Player, Reid takes Best Import
MANILA, Philippines—Talk N’ Text Tropang Texters Old Reliable took home the final Best Player of the Conference (BPC) of the current Philippine Basketball Association season, while a returning import won his second Best Import award.
Forward Ranidel de Ocampo got the 2014 PBA Governor’s Cup BPC, garnering 1, 084 total points and besting closest competitor Beerman June Mar Fajardo, who had a total of 989 points.
Article continues after this advertisement“I feel very happy as this is my first BPC award, all my hard work came into fruition,” de Ocampo said Thursday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. “This award is the reward for the effort that I put on the court.”
Elasto Painter Arizona Reid bested three other imports to take home the award for the second time with a total of 1,306 points.
Votes from the media, players, and the association were taken into consideration in choosing the winners.
Article continues after this advertisementDe Ocampo, who started playing since 2004, said a championship is still better than the individual award as every player in the Association deserves to win the hardware.
Air21 Center Asi Taulava placed third with 638 points, Ginebra rookie Greg Slaughter was fourth with 409 points, and Meralco Bolts swingman Cliff Hodge had 404.
Reid bested out rival, and last year’s winner Mixer Marqus Blakely who had 1,043 points.
Texters’ import Paul Harris placed third with 602 and Henry Walker had 572 for Alaska.
