High-flying Kobe Paras commits to UCLA
MANILA, Philippines—It looks like a Filipino youngster would wear the blue and gold of the Bruins.
Kobe Paras, the high-flying son of Filipino basketball legend Benjie Paras, has committed to join the University of California Los Angeles Bruins for his collegiate playing career.
Article continues after this advertisement“I’m really happy to say that I have committed to UCLA!” Paras posted on his Twitter account Saturday late evening.
UCLA coach Steve Alford extended the offer to the younger Paras who now plays for LA Cathedral in the United States.
“I am thankful that coach Steve Alford is willing to take a chance on me,” the 6-foot-6 forward said in a statement that the LA Times published.

Paras, who has to make a name for himself in the Philippines as the son of the only Rookie-Most Valuable Player of the Philippine Basketball Association, now has to walk the same campus that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, strutted in.
